Journey to Jameson

About Us

We are the Hayes family-- Brian, Gina, Owen and Jameson. Our son, Owen, is twelve years old and loves hunting and fishing with his dad and drumming in his two bands. We are so very proud of our new addition, Jameson Harper Hayes, the daughter and sister that completes our family.

I prayed for this child,
and the Lord has granted
me what I asked of him.
1 Samuel 1:27
We witness a miracle every time a child enters
into life. But those who make their journey
home across time and miles, growing within
the hearts of those who wait to love them,
are carried on the wings of destiny and placed
among us by God's very own hands.

Decorating for Christmas and more pix of J-Bird

Obviously, the theme I am going with this year is RED BERRY WONDERLAND.
How funny does that deer look peering around the tree??? What do you do? I'm outnumbered.

We have a lot of Chinese ornaments on the tree, many that I've accumulated over the years and more that I bought in China. The one with Chinese symbols means "blessed". So fitting for this Christmas!!

The bright red one with Chinese symbols means "double happiness". The darker red ornament has symbols on it too, not a clue what those mean.

Jameson was born this year, the year of the tiger.

For all I know this lovely lady is Japanese, but she's Asian, so she's going on the tree.

She is loving her Dora pj's.

"I'm changing the channel to Yo Gabba Gabba."

I snuck the BIG bow in for the day, but the Gadsden Mall is the last place I remember seeing it. She will snatch a bow out in a second.

There's my smiling girl! She's been fussy/whiny for the last couple of days, didn't know what was going on. She's only been with us for 1.5 months (hard to believe!) so thought it could still be her having a "clingy" day. But I found the culprit today- her first top tooth!!
Every Sunday is a photo shoot. By the time Jameson and I get ready in the mornings, Owen is already at church for band practice.

Me and my Uncle Justin

THIS is my Uncle Justin.

He comes over and reads to me all the time.

He will let me bite him if I feel like it.
I love my Uncle Justin. =-)

Second and Final Surgery!!

She's all smiles as we go into Children's, although she'd been up since 2:45 with nothing to eat or drink. Bless her little heart.
J. and Mommy before surgery.

The hall is filled with kids on riding toys at 6 am.

Catching up on some reading before they take her back.

Playing a little game of Peek-a-boo.

Coming out from the anesthesia fog. Dig the purple Barney casts.

Nothing perks you up after surgery like a glove balloon! Dr. Doyle said that Jameson's feet are responding very well and he changed up his game plan a little. She will keep these purple casts for 2 weeks, have ONE more casting in his office, and those will stay on 2-3 weeks. Then, she will be getting a brace. Not sure how long she'll have the brace at this point, I guess he'll determine that when the final casts are off.
This was great news, only 5-6 weeks of casts instead of 9!! The treatment she had in China is definitely a factor in her progress, that brought her feet out a lot, just not as much as she needed.
Jameson should be cast-free for her first birthday!!!

This is Owen bringing Jameson off the ledge. She HATES the car seat; after a little bit it's just a Scream Fest. The duck didn't do the trick, so he brought out the books.

Owen loves to make her laugh.

Just playing...

Along with the 40+ squeaky shoes I bought Jameson in China, I also purchased this tee.

Loves my cell phone

Pre-cast, but how stinkin' cute is this face???

And The Casts Are On....

This was taken mere moments after Jameson returned from recovery. No, Brian did NOT receive any of J's anesthesia, but we did get up at 3 am! The tendonotomy and castings only took about 45 minutes, everything went smooth, thanks so much for all the prayers. She was a bit fussy as the anesthesia was wearing off, but cried very little. She was a trooper. =-)

MeMe loving on J after surgery. She and Nana read Jameson a library of books to and from Bham.

J. took a bottle as soon as we got home and went down for a nap.

"Geez, it's EXHAUSTING pulling myself everywhere!"

"I will karate kick whoever put these on my legs."

But that sweet smile is still there. How very thankful we are for our baby girl.
