Journey to Jameson

About Us

We are the Hayes family-- Brian, Gina, Owen and Jameson. Our son, Owen, is twelve years old and loves hunting and fishing with his dad and drumming in his two bands. We are so very proud of our new addition, Jameson Harper Hayes, the daughter and sister that completes our family.

I prayed for this child,
and the Lord has granted
me what I asked of him.
1 Samuel 1:27
We witness a miracle every time a child enters
into life. But those who make their journey
home across time and miles, growing within
the hearts of those who wait to love them,
are carried on the wings of destiny and placed
among us by God's very own hands.

HELLO FROM NANCHANG, CHINA!!!!

WE ARE HERE!! It's been four years coming, but I'm looking out, through a very overcast afternoon at downtown Nanchang, Jiangxi, Jameson's province. Surreal.
It's been quite a journey too! But something I really want to share is one experience during our traveling here. Diane and I were a bit intimidated by LAX, quite a large airport, with its wing dedicated to Asian airlines. In line, we met a youngish (30's) Chinese gentlemen, named Harry. His wife and child live in LA, but he works in banking in Shanxi. We expressed some concern to Harry about all of the checkpoints we were going to have to visit in Guangzhou airport in very little time before our connecting flight to Nanchang. Not only did Harry wait on us as we got off our 15.5 hour international flight, but he walked us through each and every step in Guangzhou, rushing us through when possible. Harry had his own flight to make and he had no reason to take such time to help two ladies from Alabama. Diane and I are convinced that our prayers and yours brought our angel, Harry, to get us to where we are. Even with Harry's help we barely made our flight in time. If we'd missed it, I can't imagine the quag we'd faced.
It almost brings tears to my eyes, thinking of this person that God put in our path.
Our guide, Michelle, is just great. We are meeting with her in an hour to get our paperwork together for tomorrow. Tomorrow is GOTCHA DAY! The day we get to meet Miss Jameson Harper Hayes!! Our group, us and 2 other families, will meet at the civil affairs office at 11:00 am to get our babies! We'll then go to the store for baby supplies, to the hotel for a bit, then back to the civil affairs office for all of the provincial paperwork. The next several days we will spend getting to know Jameson and sightseeing.
Please keep us in your prayers! We have DEFINITELY felt your lifting us up thus far!! Because I am here without Brian, I have some special paperwork that needs to be finished and faxed to my social worker back home ASAP. Please pray that this will go smoothly and nothing will be delayed. And please pray that Jameson will adjust to us quickly, not be overwhelmed, and feel all of the love that we have for her already.
We was able to Skype with Brian earlier, Owen was at a spend the night party. It was so good to see his face. Tomorrow he'll get to see his daughter.
Love to you all-- pictures tomorrow!
Gina
